Recorded December 24,2007 on location at her exclusive burial site, this video tribute was made in honor of Karen Carpenter, of the Carpenters. Since cooner Bing Crosby is somewhat known as the father of Christmas music, because of his numerous holiday contributions, in that same vain Karen is the mother. She loved Christmas, and it was her favorite holiday. Every year her holiday music resurfaces around Christmas time, and each year this passionate ballad “Merry Christmas Darling” returns and causes people to miss Karen all over again. Her lyrics of longing to be with her distant loved one during Christmas and New Years gave me the idea to create this video. It’s not only a tribute, but rather it’s also a story and a reply for the original song. Adam Cordova amazingly portrays me and represents millions of male Carpenters fans that once dreamed Karen would be their wife. This video says “I miss you EVERY Christmas, KAREN, and EVERY New Year too! I wish you were with me.” I got the vision to make this video three nights ago. And when Adam agreed to be in it, and once the video was completed in editing, watching this playback is like re-visiting my dream. Every part of making this video was fulfilling and endearing, because with Adam’s help I brought my dream into fruition, and it became as beautiful as I had envisioned it.
